Winter Style Guide For Men

There are so many guides for women on how to dress that men can be forgotten and now that winter is well and truly upon us we thought it was about time someone chipped in with advice for men’s clothing in the winter weather!
Snow and cold don’t necessarily have to mean donning waterproofs and wellies! In fact there are plenty of ways to keep warm and dry without missing out in the style stakes. This is our guide for men on staying stylish this winter.
We think footwear is the most important piece of your wardrobe to consider when getting ready to face the elements. It’s important that you have shoes or boots that look good, have a good tread and a thick sole or you’ll be slipping all over the place – and there’s nothing less stylish than falling over in the snow!
Our recommendation is that you opt for a good quality pair of lace up boots. They’ll be high enough to keep your feet warm and the sole should be sufficiently thick so as not to freeze. Go for a waterproof pair to get optimum warmth! It’s also crucial to wear thick socks, as it doesn’t take long to get very cold feet without them!

You don’t have to wear a waterproof to be snow ready. In fact a wool coat and umbrella will usually keep you much warmer and dryer! Choose a style that fastens up high to the neck and ends below the waist for the warmest choice. Coats with a thick lining are also the best option as they keep in the most heat.
Many wool coats will have some natural waterproofing anyway as a result of the lanolin in wool (the same oil that keeps sheep dry in poor weather).
If you’re a broader bloke then it’s worth going for a single breasted style rather than double breasted, and when it comes to choosing the colour of your winter jacket grey is often a good idea. Whilst smart and neutral it isn’t as stark and black and is therefore easier to clean as things won’t show up on it as easily.
When is comes to tops layers are the key for keeping warm! Wear a t-shirt with a cardigan or jumper for both style and comfort. Choosing a bright coloured cardigan or shirt is the ideal way to add some colour to your winter outfit, which will often consist of darker colours.
Layering is also very flattering (especially for bigger men) as it slims the torso.
The most important consideration for trousers in winter weather is the length. If your trousers are too long they’ll drag on the floor and soak up snow/ rain water leaving you with very cold legs and very scruffy looking trousers. If you feel comfortable in it now is the time to wear the slim jeans trend as these can be tucked into your boots (temporarily if you’d prefer) to save the ends from the snow.
Accessories are more important in cold weather than any other time. A warm scarf, gloves and hat are a great way to give an air of preparedness as well as looking stylish. Plus if you are concerned about waterproofing your jacket then an umbrella is an easy alternative.
Overall winter style is all about being prepared. You don’t have to abandon your sense of style at the first whisper of snow! Just wear warm layers, and decent boots for a simple and stylish way to face the winter weather!

Men Beat the Chills with Lacoste Long Sleeved Shirts

Autumn chills have started with the approaching of September, and no more are the days which promise you hot days and hot nights. For the light chills of the approaching winter, Lacoste long sleeve shirts are a great option.
Winter wear need not necessarily mean thick woolens or thicker coats. The beginnings or the ends of winter are crucial times, for you will need something light during the day time and something warmer at the night. You can carry the jacket for the night, but go for plain t-shirts or shirts, but that will hardly keep you warm even during the light chills. The need for Lacoste long sleeve shirts starts here, for these shirts, though completely made of cotton, have been tightly weaved to keep you warm. These are no ordinary cotton polo t-shirts. The length of the sleeves is another bonus, for the hands need to be covered during the months of October and November, and sometimes as early as September.
The cold winds not just take a toll on the bare skin, but also on the neck region, which is a catalyst for getting you a cold. Men find these helpful in beating the chill of these awkward months, when the weather is both cool and warm, all at the same time. Such weather needs a comfortable material, i.e., cotton. Also, the body requires protection from wind, i.e., long sleeves. All these put together, what you get is a good long sleeved shirt. and when it comes to winter wear for men, what better than Lacoste with a whole range of different types of winter clothes, which include a number of polo t-shirts with long sleeves.

Color is a big aspect of the garments of winter. Winter deserves colors that are bold. Bold need not always mean fluorescents or bright gaudy colors. The colors of Lacoste long sleeve shirts properly explain the real meaning of what colors should be used during the few cold months. Colors of winter should be in a combination of both bright and dark. Colors like Apple Green, Black, Dark Blue, Dark Green, Light Blue, Luke Blue, Navy Blue, Orange, Pink, Rose Pink, Red, Purple, White and Yellow are the colors that are found in the collection of these shirts.
This is not the end. For discounts are also available on these shirts. The benefit of shopping from certain online websites is that they offer original branded clothes at huge discounted rates. The reason they can afford to sell clothes of brands like Lacoste or Burberry at such rates is mainly that these websites purchase the clothes directly from the factories to avoid the cost of dealers, and also that they do not spend any money on advertisement. The History of Christmas – Worldwide Traditions of Christmas

The word Christmas is actually a contraction of Christ and Mass, which is another name for a religious service. It is observed on December 25th for most nations of the world. It is the traditional day of observance of Jesus’ birth, although His actual birthday is thought to be in the late fall. The ancient Middle English word Christemasses, was first used on 1038AD. In the early Greek versions of the New Testament, the letter x (chi) is the first letter of Christ (Xpiotoc). This is where the abbreviation “Xmas” came from.
Saint Nicholas was a fourth century Bishop (overseer) of a church in Asia Minor (now Turkey) who attended the Council of Nicea. He is not only one of the most popular of saints, he is known as the Patron Saint of Children and His day is actually December 6th, but he gave throughout the year. He not only left toys but clothing, shoes, etc. for especially needy children. Children of the rich had no need of St. Nicholas but the poor received little if anything. The Dutch name for Saint Nicholas was Sinterklaas, hence the name Santa Clause. Santa is simply Spanish for Saint.
During the time in history that Jesus Christ was born as a human, (5 AD-0) nations were expecting a great king coming out of the Jews. These nations may have been influenced by Daniel and his writings, since he knew when and where the Christ would be born (Micah 5:2). The Persian’s and the Hebrews had similar beliefs, more than any other nation at that time. They also believed in one God, did not idols and saw light as a symbol of God.
How perfectly fitting that Bethlehem would be the birthplace of the Savior since the name means “house of bread”. He is known as the Bread of Life and that He was in a manger which is a feeding trough that usually had grain. This fits with Jesus saying “I am the Bread of Life”. But where would they would find Baby Jesus? They had been following the star, but this only pointed them in the right direction, toward Judea. But how could they know exactly where to find Him in a fairly large country or city? The Old Testament prophet Micah knew the Savior would be born in Bethlehem. Daniel must have known this and passed this on to others in Babylonia.
And “…when they saw the star, they rejoiced, with exceeding great joy (Mth 2:10)” knowing this must be the place. But it was only when the star came directly over [literally, “stood over” like someone or something stood over] the child did they knew for certain where the infant would be. This explains the “exceeding great joy” since they finally found Him. They had left months or perhaps a year earlier and had travel thousands of miles and now the star showed them precisely where the new King was. Jesus is described as a star…the Bright and Shinning Star, the Bright and Morning Star and a Saving Star (Ish. 60:1-4, Rev. 22:16, Num. 24:17).
The angel Gabriel’s message to Mary was that, even though she had never been married and had known no man, still a virgin, that her son would be the Son of God. The angel also told Joseph not to leave Mary or divorce her, since her pregnancy is a result of a miraculous conception. Since there was no room at any of the inn’s in Bethlehem, they had no choice but to stay in a stable, surrounded by animals with only the hay for a birthing bed and a manger for a baby crib.
And it came to pass that Joseph came out of Galilee…into Judea, unto the city of David, called Bethlehem…with Mary his espoused wife, due with child at any moment. And when they were there, the exact day she was to deliver her child, Mary gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped Him in some clothing and placed Him in the feeding manger.
And there in the same country were shepherds in the fields, abiding there, tending their flocks over night. Then, the angel of the Lord came right up to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them and they were terrified. The angel told them, don’t be afraid and notice that I am bringing you good tidings of a great joy which shall be to everyone. This very day, born in the City of David, is a Savior which is Christ the Lord. Here will be the sign for you when you see Him: He will be the Babe wrapped in clothing, lying in a manger.
At that moment, there was with this angel, a multitude of heavenly hosts, praising God and saying “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace and good will toward everyone. Immediately after the angels went back up toward heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem right now to see this come to pass, which the Lord told us about. So they rushed to Bethlehem and there found Mary and Joseph and the babe lying in the manger just as they had been told.
Christmas is the most widely celebrated holiday in the world. There are as many different traditions as there are nations that observe it. For example the poinsettias were embraced by America when their Mexican representative, Joel R. Poinsett, brought back this green and red plant that flowers in the winter. Christmas, as we know it today, is largely a product of the Victorian Age in the 1860’s.
Santa Clause or more specifically, Saint Nicholas, was Europe’s most popular image of Christmas and by the end of the Renaissance was it’s most admired saint. His benevolence was primarily directed toward children and their necessities of life and not originally toys. For example, even a lump of coal was something of value in the dead of winter and considered practical. However, don’t pout children, it was accompanied with other trinkets or toys in stockings.
Swiss and German children who were well behaved, were said to be most deserving of Kris Kringle’s gifts. The friendly witch, La Befana, rides her broom down Italian chimney’s to stuff children’s stockings with toys. In Scandinavia, it was Jultomten who brought presents in a goat-powered sleigh. To the English, it was Father Christmas. Pere Noel is the French version of this children’s stocking stuffer.
Many years ago Babouschka believes she gave the Three Wise Men wrong directions to Bethlehem and thus to baby Jesus. To make amends she leaves presents by Russian children’s bedsides, in the hope that one of them would be the baby Jesus.
In Nordic countries, the people observed this time of the year, from December 21st through January, as a celebration of the sun’s beginning it’s trek form the shortest day light-period (darkest day) to increasingly longer day’s with sun.
The Fin’s thoroughly enjoy ‘Hyvää Joulua!’ or the “peace of Christmas” on Christmas Eve. Most of the nation resides in a sauna that night listening to a national broadcast. Tradition holds that this is a day of observation of departed friends and family. Gravesite are visited and those departed are remembered. Perhaps this is where the “peace” comes from.
Norway is the birthplace of the Yule Log, which is the Norse word for wheel. This refers to the circuit the sun takes annually with Christmas being it’s beginning point of it’s circuit.
During the 17th century in early America and England, observing Christmas was illegal. Thus certain customs were born. For example, the candy cane was a disguised reference to Jesus Christ. The red strips represented the bloodied strips He received and the white strips declared His purity. The j-shaped is obviously symbolic of His name.
As for Christmas’ future, you and your family have yet to fulfill it. You may have your own traditions or might want to start your own. You can even borrow one from the above nationalities. What is your ethnic heritage? Our family put’s up the Christmas tree (thanks Germany for this contribution) on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Whatever your family traditions are, Merry Christmas to you and yours from our family. A savior has been born for us, so rejoice, and to all a good night.

Most Haunted Prisons On Earth!

The Moundsfield West Virginia Penitentiary
The Moundsfield West Virginia Penitentiary is considered to be one of the scariest places on Earth according to individuals who have spent any length of time in the immense structure that once served as a prison. Construction on this building started in the year of 1866. In 1876, the prison was completed. Individuals who were ordered to stay at this particular prison had to endure many harsh conditions, including cells that were only seven feet long and five feet wide.
Naturally, several of the inmates died while serving time at this penitentiary. Many were put to death due to the nature of their crimes. It has been estimated that nearly eighty five of the men were put to death by way of hanging. This was from the opening of the establishment until the year of 1949. Starting in the year of 1951 all the way until the year of 1959, electrocution executions were performed. Nine men were killed in this fashion. Then, luckily for many inmates, West Virginia did away with the punishment of the death penalty.
The prison quickly became overcrowded. Emotions ran high, and rumors of hauntings began. In the year of 1995, the prison closed its doors officially. Since then, several stories of hauntings have been told. For example, there was an indoor area that was used for recreatio
Eastern State Penitentiary
The first haunted prison that we will review is Eastern State Penitentiary. This particular prison was opened in the year of 1829 in Philadelphia. Prior to the opening of this establishment, the jail on Walnut Street in the area housed individuals who were found to be crime committers. The Quakers of the time established the fact that some major changes needed to occur when it came to incarceration methods. It was established by this particular group of individuals who when an individual broke the laws, they should endure a period of “penitence”. This group believed that being confined in a solitary manner could assist in this time of penitence.
This prison was constructed to reflect the beliefs that confinement and silence by the Quakers could benefit the inmates, as well as society on the whole. Each criminal who entered this facility was issued their own room, as well as their own small outside area. The individuals were not permitted to interact with any other inmate while serving their time at Eastern State Penitentiary. Silence was imperative at this prison. Inmates were not allowed to talk, sing, read, or communicate in any other manner. If the individuals failed to adhere to these rules, they were punished and were not permitted to have any type of food or drink.
While the Quakers had a sound concept in mind, and believed that there would be little need to punish outside of the confinement and solitude, the staff of the prison thought otherwise. As prisoners reached out to communicate with others, new ways of punishing them were implemented and the methods were relatively harsh. These methods included using a straight jacket, a device called a “mad chair” in which they could be strapped for days, “water baths” that occurred mostly in the winter months where the inmates would be drenched with cold water and chained to a chair for many days, and the “iron gag”. The iron gag involved tying the tongue of the inmate and then attaching it to the hands behind the back. When the hands were moved, it would pull and tear the tongue.
Many prisoners died while at their stay at the Eastern State Penitentiary. It is believed that the tortured souls of these individuals still roam the haunted prison, only they are not as silent. The average visitor to this haunted prison is likely to hear noises that are chilling to the bone, like screams and cries that display sadness and despair, and a relatively high amount of anguish. Many have actually seen apparitions that appear to be residual hauntings, of the ways in which the inmates were tortured, just like it is happening in the presence. The negative and emotional energy created at this haunted prison definitely qualify it as one of the scariest places on Earth today.
Moundsfield West Virginia Penitentiary
The Moundsfield West Virginia Penitentiary is also considered to be one of the scariest places on Earth. This haunted prison has had a number of sightings, and frightening experiences. As you approach this immense structure, you are likely to be taken back by the spooky, gothic building style that was used to create the facility. Constructed in the year of 1866, on the outer area of a place called “Moundsville”, this spooky prison housed several different individuals for a period of about one hundred and twenty nine years. A good majority of these individuals lost their lives while staying at the prison. There were some who died of natural causes, others who died due to the shear violence, and many others who were actually executed in the prison.
It is believed, at one point in history, an ancient burial ground for Native Americans stood on the property where Moundsville West Virginia Penitentiary was constructed. This is, in all actuality, how “Moundsfield” got its name. The purpose and intent of the facility was to house the most dangerous criminals of the time. This prison also housed women prisoners as well as men prisoners. One of the main things that played an important role in this particular prison was that it actually had what was called a “Death House”. Throughout the history of the prison, individuals were executed here – typically, by hangings, and then eventually by an electric chair.
There have been a number of scary tales to circulate regarding this particular haunted prison. The violence, the torture, and of course, the murders and suicides that were experienced in this haunted prison all account to the tales that circulate of ominous ghosts and evil spirits. It is not unusual to hear footsteps approaching from an unknown source, frightening noises echoing off of the walls of the structure, screams and cries emerging from every direction, and even an occasional apparition.
Mansfield Reformatory
The Mansfield Reformatory is another haunted prison that is believed to be one of the scariest places on Earth. In the year of 1896, this structure was established in order to provide a location that boys who were sent to be reformed could be completely turned around – in a spiritual way. Unfortunately, things did not work out as well as the original creators may have thought that they would. Stories of torture, despair, sadness, and death have been circulated for years. As a result of these gruesome stories, it is believed that a number of hauntings have occurred at the Mansfield Reformatory. Here, I will share some of the haunting tales of this haunted prison.
One of the main stories of a haunting in this prison occurs in the wing where administration serves. At one point in history, a Warden’s wife lived in this area with her husband. She was trying to retrieve something from the close when a gun fell and a bullet entered her chest. She died, and many claimed that the Warden actually killed her, despite the fact that evidence pointed a different direction. Approximately ten years later, the Warden had a heart attack and he passed away. It is believed that the couple still resides in the establishment as ghosts. Scents of roses in the air, as well as cold, ghostly breezes and apparitions have been spotted in this wing.
Many individuals who have visited this haunted prison have had accounts of hearing strange noises, seeing apparitions, smelling unusual scents, and hearing conversations and even screams while there. The lingering sadness and evil seem to linger in every area at the Mansfield Reformatory – both inside and out!
Rawlings Frontier Prison
The Rawlings Frontier Prison is considered to be one of the scariest places on Earth as well. This haunted prison is located in Rawlings, Wyoming. Many individuals refer to this establishment as “The Old Pen”. Several different accounts of hauntings have been experienced at this particular prison. There seems to be a number of residual hauntings that occur in and around the structure. The spirits that many witnesses have viewed do not seem to actually be aware of the presence of the living. Residual hauntings are more less high levels of energy that are located in certain places. The living sees this energy, or “recording” and it is referred to as a haunting.
While there are many residual type hauntings at the Rawlings Frontier Prison, there are several other types of activities that occur in and around the facility. These include strange smells, devastating wails, screams, and feelings of immense fear, hot spots, cold spots, and more. Several ghost pictures, and ghost videos have been taken here to establish the fact that these are real ghost stories
Waverly Hills Sanatorium located in Louisville,Ky.- Patient Treatment
Fresh Air and Bedrest
Since they did not have antibiotics in the early 1920′s to treat tuberculosis, they had to rely on natural remedies. Daily bedrest out on the solarium porchways was the first and foremost item of importance in treatment. The patients spent most of their stay at the sanatorium out on these “porches”. This included all four seasons. Even in the winter the patients were kept outside in their beds. Electric blankets were developed for sanatoriums such as Waverly. Also, you will notice that the solariums had very large windows, which were NOT glassed in. These window openings were only screened in. This was for the purpose of allowing fresh air to circulate through the hospital to carry away the germs as patients would exhale, sneeze, or cough. Fresh air would replenish whatever they exhaled. This was supposed to be very effective in helping the body get rid of TB.
Good Nutrition and Diet
Tuberculosis patients were required to consume alot of protein in their meals to help build up their immune system in order to help fight off the disease. So, healthy eating habits were second on the list of treatment for TB. Cattle and hogs were raised on the farm property of Waverly Hills for fresh meat. Fruits and vegetables were grown to provide a well balanced diet. And fresh dairy products such as milk, butter and cheese were made possible from the cattle that was raised.
Waverly hills had a large central cafateria as well as small dinning rooms on each floor. These smaller dinning rooms were ideal for patients that were too sick to go to the main cafeteria.
Heliotherapy
The young children pictured at the right were recieving natural utraviolet treatment from the hot sun. This treatment was called heliotherapy. Heliotherapy was used in the treatment of tuberculosis of the bones, joints, skin, and eyes. There were several reasons for the use of heliotherapy. First of all, the sun acts as a bactericide killing the tubercule bacillus organisms which cause the disease. When a patient is exposed to moderate hot temperatures for extended periods of time it is sufficient to kill of the bacteria and clear up infections. Also, ergosterol (crystalline steroid alcohol), which is present in the skin is converted by the suns rays into vitamin D, which was believed to do further damage to the tubercule bacilli and help to destroy it.
Sunlamp Treatment
Ultraviolet sunlamps were used when weather conditions were too unfavorable outside. This is a historic photo showing a patient recieving treament from a sunlamp in the old original TB clinic building. This was the two story tudor styled building that you can see a picture of if you go back to the front main page of this site.
Pneumothorax & Thoracoplasty
At Waverly, two basic surgical procedures were used to treat TB. Artificial Pneumothorax was one of these techniques, as you see in the archive photo above. It was a way of collapsing, or deflating a portion of the lung thereby giving that part of the lung a chance to heal. Another benefit of collapsing the lung in certain areas is that it would close off any holes that may have been caused by the disease.
Thoracoplasty was a more involved procedure. It involved actually opening up the patients chest area and removing one or several rib cage bones. This was also done to collaspe the lung when deemed neccessary by the doctor. Most patients on average would require the removal of 7-8 ribs, and the surgeons felt it safe only to remove two or three ribs at a time, which meant that sometimes patients had to endure several surgeries before the thoracoplasty was completed. There were some cases which involved literally cutting out a diseased part of the lung. This procedure was called Lobectomy, and is still used today in some cases of lung cancer. It might be noted however that thoracoplasty was only performed as a “last ditch” effort to save a patient if all the other forms of treatment did not help.
Morale Boosters
Another feature of treatment that Waverly had to help patients was occupational therapy. This gave the patients a chance to do something that would get their minds off the daily “humdrum” of laying in bed and worrying about wether or not they would recover from TB. The patients learned how to weave baskets, make brooms, bedspreads, table cloths and other useful odds and ends, which gave them a sense of purpose, kept their nerves calmer and gave them some enjoyment during their long stay at Waverly.
The items that were produced in the occupational therapy rooms by the patients were displayed proudly and sold at the Kentucky State Fair. The money that was raised by selling these crafts at the KY Fair helped to generate funds which would help to refurbish the operating costs of the Waverly Hospital, as continuing efforts were being researched to improve treatment for tuberculosis to ensure treatment for patients.
Radio at Waverly
Headphone radio service was another feature that Waverly offered for the personal enjoyment of their patients. Receptacles were provided between each set of solarium doors so that the patients could plug in headphones and listen to their favorite stations wether it be music, stories, or sports. This helped to pass the time and gave the patients an added measure of enjoyment during their hospital stay.

Conclusion
As you can see, there are several haunted prisons that are deemed as the scariest places on Earth. If you want to experience these hauntings yourself, these establishments allow tours and more! Plan your trip to the scariest places on Earth – the haunted prisons mentioned here!

Why Some Men Have No Fashion Sense

Article by John Dow
Show me a guy who is well dressed and I’ll show you a man who’s girlfriend, or mother buys their clothes. This may not be true for all the guys, but I would bet that it’s true most of the time. Most guys do not understand fashion as women do and it obvious.
When you see a guy dressed well, even if there is no influence of women, there’s a good chance the sales people have selected their clothes. You really cannot blame the poor guy for two reasons. First, men rarely watch commercials or look at fashion magazines or discuss clothes. Most men hate to shop for things they cannot find in a hardware store or sports shop.
I believe the male genes have at least 2 or 3 genes that protect them from any shopping or fashion interest. Color and style are of little interest unless the discussion is on autos, motorcycles, or barbecue grills. For a majority of men, there are three primary colors, not aspen white or dull gray winter, men just don’t see them or recognize the difference.
There can be exceptions if a guy has a lot of cash to burn but that is not based on style. If he wears an Armani suit, the chances are that he’s just shopping in a store with more expensive clothes. It’s more of a demonstration of success than of fashion sense when a guy goes designer clothes.
When most men do go clothes shopping they head directly to the section of interest and picks 2 or 3 colors of the same design. In and out in 15 minutes if possible. Most guys do not even try on clothes unless they think they may have gained or lost weight recently.
Just check out the men’s department in most stores and watch a guy buy a dress suit. If he comes to replace a worn out suit, he will go with the same color and design of the old one. If he wants a new suit, he will look for a different color (any color that is different will do). He then allows the sales person to pick out a matching shirt and tie that go with the new outfit.
This is a guy who will go to a store of sporting goods and spend two hours looking for a new fishing reel or a pair of binoculars. Look at lawnmowers for weeks and go in several different stores to check each one out. When it comes to clothing, it is inside and out in 15 minutes flat.
You can even see the difference in selections in most departments for men. They may have five or eight different types of trousers, shirts and sports coats, whatever. Glance at the section for Women and you will see acres of different styles, colors and outfits to fit any occasion. That’s because retailers understand the difference between men and women shoppers.
In fact most men do not even think Moving into new clothes unless his wife, girlfriend, mother also told him. The guys were their clothes until they fall or are completely worn out. A good example of the problem is shoes. Just look at the shoes many guys still wear way after they should be replaced and you’ll see what I mean.
Speaking of shoes, how many shoes are in most guys’ closet? Probably a pair of dress shoes, maybe two or three pairs of sneakers or the equivalent, and perhaps some sporting or climbing boots. Look in the closet of most women and you’ll see rows and rows of shoes, all styles and colors. An average guy could have up to 10 pairs in total; most women will have five times that amount.
As I mentioned, it is in the men’s genes. So women, do not blame your husband, boyfriend, or son for his lack of fashion sense. It’s not his fault. If you want him to dress better, you need to realize that you better go with him next time he goes shopping. And you may have to suggest it too.

Mens Fashion: Town Meets Country

Article by Ima Johnson
The autumn/winter season is now firmly upon us, so what does that mean for fashion trends in mens clothes. Well, town really does meet country this season, cosmopolitan boys around the world will be donning their tweed jackets, throwing on a pair of camel-coloured brogues, and strutting their funky bumpkin/preppy stuff through the urban jungle.
This is great news for most of you boys, because you will not have to rush out and buy yourself a completely new wardrobe. Rather, this trend is borrowing from recent fashions, but with twists and turns to bring together a whole new look. This recent trend is neither townie nor country, but takes from both to create a new, exciting, and unique style that will produce incredible results when pulled off successfully.
The country feature of this new trend comes from the traditional, upper-class look. Plenty of tweed, herringbone, and wool to look forward to this winters great for keeping you warm. Hunting-style jackets, as well as the lumberjack/tree-feller style are big news this season. Bring out your checked preppy, geek-chic, shirts for another year; they fit perfectly with the country/townie look, giving a completely new impression to these mens clothes. Great news then no need to rush out and buy a completely new set of mens clothes, last years are perfect and will feel current and fashionable. Make the most of it, because that isnt how fashion trends normally work.
Now we come to the town side of the fashion, bring out your chinos, your bright coloured trousers, and possibly even your braces. The successful conjoining of town and country will put together the outdoors look with the tailored, slim-cut, geek-chic look. Do not throw out your skinny jeans, this winter they are perfect team with large, oversized knitwear over a lumberjack shirt and finish off the outfit with either a chunky pair of boots, or a narrow pair of brogues depending on whether you lean more to the country or more to the townie tendencies of the modern world.
Remember, layering is key this season, do this by layering the upper portions with mens clothes, shirts, jumpers, waistcoats, jackets, and scarves this gives an extremely masculine air to your silhouette. We mentioned five different items of mens clothes that can be layered, clearly, you should not be too excessive in your layering, layer a maximum of 4 layers at a time, otherwise the look you create is too ‘busy’ giving a confused appearance to the outfit.
Colours are of particular interest this season; bold colours will be all the rage – if you are brave enough opt for bright colour chinos, and layer your top half with neutral colours. When it comes to colour schemes, bear this advice in mind: only wear one item of bright clothing, if you opt for a bright shirt, then wear neutral coloured bottoms, and vice versa too much colour, and you risk pulling off a country/townie/clowny look fashion senses are not sophisticated enough to cope with that cacophony just yet.
